BTS Research

At the BTS Research and Writing Center, our goal is to publish the Birmingham Theological Journal and other research projects that align with the interests of BTS students, such as the ANE Deities Map Project. The center is led by Dr. Pat Sanders and is supported currently by the following faculty and research assistants: Dr. Jay Haley, Bonnie Malec, R. R. Lord, and Adrianna Anderson.

Birmingham Theological Journal

The Birmingham Theological Journal (BTJ) is the annual, peer-reviewed journal of Birmingham Theological Seminary (BTS) that publishes articles and book reviews from BTS students and faculty. BTS is a multi-denominational confessional and reformed seminary. The journal seeks to further scholarship by focusing on areas of academic study related to the Bible and its application primarily within the reformed tradition and a broadly historic reformed community.

Cultic Topography of the ANE

This ANE map project describes the deities found in the biblical text of the Old Testament. This is an ongoing project conceived by R. R. Lord with faculty advisor, Dr. Pat Sanders. A related article may be found here: Division of the Divine: "A Brief Study on Divine Objects in the Ancient Near East" by R.R. Lord.
